Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Hoedown

"It does what it says on the tin" ran an old commercial. EMERSON, LAKE AND PALMER certainly did that, whether you were listening to an album or watching them live. Just look at the quicksilver fingers of KEITH EMERSON as he scuttles them over keyboards - all at a time when it was hard to make keyboards sound good. Synthesisers were in their early days. By the end of the decade (70's) groups were starting to get hits with a keyboard player using one finger and seemingly half way through a course on 'How to play the keyboard in 5 easy lessons". Synthetic drum machines were becoming more sophisticated - and it became step by step programming rather than brilliant musicianship for the keyboard player.
